Title: Learning Relations: Mentoring & Coaching to Connect, Communicate, and Change
Event: Jaguar Land Rover, Professional Development Training
Date: September 1st, 2016
Speaker: Christopher Dennis
Summary:
Feeling lonely in the challenges presented by your career? Made some difficult progress over the years and want your experience to help your organization? Excited to take on a learning relationship but worried about how to ‘do it right’ and how to manage the time?
This course focuses on creating successful learning relationships. After exploring the differences between mentoring and coaching, participants assess their expectations before refining and articulating their goals. Yes, the purpose of learning relationships is to help others, and this workshop introduces methods for self-assessment in individual sessions and over time. Each participant will practice the learning relationship roles—mentor, protégé, coach and coached—in order to gain insight into the processes. Identifying partners, building trust, preparing for a session, and creating actionable feedback are all addressed.
Attendees need not be in an active learning relationship. The course prepares participants to kick-start a new relationship, either as mentor or protégé, coach or coached.
